I'm going to be on a long diet after this...
By: ED209 : September 23rd, 2014-07:51
I was lucky to be invited to join several PuristS for an epic 'meat' dinner at chi Spacca restaurant. This restaurant opened last year by Mario Batali, Nancy Silverton and Joe Bastianich and is located next to their Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza restau...
just a little bit :)
By: ED209 : September 23rd, 2014-17:18
Well, ok, not a little bit but a LOT! LOL. It was an enjoyable meal and best of all spending some time with great dining companions. Regards, ED-209
+1

The pano bianco with drippings sounds a bit heavy. The rib-eye looks delicious. How would you rate the steak compared to other places you've been to? -MW
Rating would be pretty good
By: ED209 : September 23rd, 2014-17:20
The bone-in NY strip was very good, but I still like the rib eye at Mastro's better. If you go, I highly recommend the tomahawk pork chop. It was delicious. Regards, ED-209
Tempting every once in a while

LOL
By: ED209 : September 23rd, 2014-17:22
Thanks ocwatching, we've got to get you up here for a GTG. Hope all is well! Regards, ED-209
Wow... That's a big meal...
By: patrick_y : September 23rd, 2014-17:29
That looks so good. And the dishes kept on getting better. They were fabulous charcuterie plates but then hot plates just looked even more amazing. It'd be hard to pace yourself by not eating all the charcuterie and save room for the main courses.
Highly recommended

Hope you get a chance to try this restaurant on your next visit to SoCal. Have you discovered any new dining places recently? Regards, ED-209
...Two weeks ago...
By: patrick_y : September 23rd, 2014-18:09
During my visit two weeks ago, a local PuristS member took me to Basix Cafe in West Hollywood. It was decent and reasonably priced. I still go to Wurstkuche and The Pie Hole, for sausage and pie, every time I come down to LA. During my visit last week; Ha...
I've been to one
By: ED209 : September 23rd, 2014-21:04
I've been to Wurstkuche a few years ago. The sausages were good, but I'm kinda territorial and don't like the community seating. Plus the area is kinda sketchy. The Pie Hole sounds good though. Regards, ED-209
Okay, Pie Hole it is!
By: patrick_y : September 24th, 2014-13:02
Maple Custard at Pie Hole. I once had a friend who once said, "the first meal is on me, but every dish later you have at that restaurant, you owe me a nickel." This is one that I'd be happy to submit for.
Diet

What a meal.
By: JerryW : September 23rd, 2014-20:38
My kind of food. I think you can go for a drive to work that off, no diet. JerryW
Thanks Jerry
By: ED209 : September 23rd, 2014-21:07
So many great places for dinner. Hope we can share a meal again soon. Regards, ED-209 ...
Amazing meal
By: JerryW : September 24th, 2014-20:53
with wonderful friends. Just a great day in California. Look forward to a repeat day. Best, JerryW
Sounds like a plan.

Think I will be out that way in early January. Look forward to visiting with my PPro friends. JerryW
Since you're into meat, Ed . . .
By: Dr No : September 24th, 2014-09:40
. . . we've gotta go to Chema's Tacos in Whittier. Carne asada, tripas, lengua, al pastor, and cabeza - and that's it. Nothing else on the menu except chips and salsa. Been a long time, but from treasured memory, Chema offered some of the finest beef in L...
Interesting
By: ED209 : September 24th, 2014-19:58
Hmmm, Chema's sounds interesting. If it's anything like your recommendation for Arry's then I'd love to try it out. So when are you taking me? :) Regards, ED-209
Here's the plan: make arrangements with Ming . . .
By: Dr No : September 28th, 2014-13:51
. . . on a Saturday to meet up at his place, then we'll all drive down to Chema's in one car. Next stop will be Scatch in La Mirada for an hour or so of pool, then pastrami at Arry's for dessert. Sounds good? :-)
I'm down with that idea...
By: DRMW : September 29th, 2014-00:00
Sounds good Art. We'll also have to do Connie & Ted's at some point: New England Boiled Dinner: Hot Lobster Roll: :) -MW ...
One fairly recent discovery: Sahara . . .
By: Dr No : September 29th, 2014-01:41
. . . in Pasadena. Excellent Lebanese cuisine, fabulous beef and lamb, loads of vegetarian dishes, and best of all, very reasonably priced for the quality served. Let me put it this way: Dad, Uncle Jake, and myself make the trip from Camarillo to Pasadena...
Before the long diet...
By: AlexSunrise : September 25th, 2014-09:57
A really long walk might also help, Ed. :-))) Everything looks D-lish!!! Thanks for sharing with us, Alex
Beautiful!

Definitely must try
By: ED209 : September 29th, 2014-20:58
It's next door to the Osteria Mozza that we had dinner a few years back. Hope you can try it, the food was excellent. Regards, ED-209
