"I have come to realize that, in the world of psychodynamics and behavioural psychology, NOT choosing a brand because of that brand is just as brand influenced as BUYING a brand because of the brand..." - I could bore everyone to death with my over-opinionated thoughts on this, but it's best to save everyone from this torture. There's a Purist who has already had to deal with my ramblings about this topic offline now, and making one person suffer is enough for any one lifetime. I agree with this sentiment.
Just a few random thoughts :
Moser and their 'debranded' watch that has just been announced is, perhaps, their commentary on it?
I believe that some luxury brands have been trying to reduce the amount of branding on their products in terms of differentiation between their products/ price points, too, as the uber wealthy wish to have something that is X but well you can't tell it's X.
If we go back down to the inexpensive end of the brand spectrum - the Muji shops (of which I am a fan) - the whole premise of that was 'no-brand', and it's done incredibly well, so perhaps in a way their 'no-brand' as a brand has made it what it claimed to be against?
