There are plenty of great Chinese restaurants in the Los Angeles area. Old Chinatown in down town L.A., Monterey Park, San Gabriel, and Hacienda Heights has plenty of places to choose from. But once you head west it is virtually non existent. There's the ...  

Having said that, the food did appear to have made up for the shortcomings, and perhaps sometime in the future, once they have figured out the operation, a second visit will be in order. Thanks for sharing, Alex

Newport has potential if they can work out their staff issues they will do well. The spot they are in has had high turnover in the past. We'll wait a another month or so and try it again, will report back when I do. Thanks for looking! -MW

but I hate to say it..I would not go to BH for Chinese...lol maybe a GTG to change my mind..LOL

When I go I will call you and we'll do dinner there and see if they improved their service. I met up with a fellow PuristS and they know the family who owns Newport. Hope he follows up and we get a better experience. Dine at any interesting places lately ... 

We finally made out to this place in Napa... We did so well with planning that we were there for the 6.1 quake...all good just shaken nerves... ...

Tough to find a good high-end Chinese restaurant.

Gelato was really good. We just had this: A giant chocolate chip cookie and vanilla bean ice cream! Nothing fancy, just a freshly baked cookie a la mode. Recently we went back to Connie and Ted's for some New England style grub, usually we are too fun to ...  

I hope they stock up on the crab and Santa Barbara spot prawns when we try it again. HAGWE Stefan! -MW

For tonight's dinner we went to a place in Monterey Park and had ordered it House Special style: It was excellent! Mr. Chow's IMO the food is not that good, you hear a lot about it because it attracts celebrities. They have locations in BH, Malibu, London...

I've been looking forward to a review of New Port Seafood at this location. Sad to hear about the poor service, but hopefully it can be fixed asap. Maybe will wait another month or two to let them figure it out before trying it. Regards, ED-209

Newport in BH is convenient for us, hope they improve that we way we can save all the time driving out to MP or SG for good Chinese food! -MW
