On my travel to Hong Kong, I took a side trip to Macau. The city is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) similar to Hong Kong under the People's Republic of China. It's known as the Las Vegas of Asia with hotel and casinos like the Venetian and Wynn. Lot...

The travel time to Macau is only an hour so we grabbed a light and quick bite to eat. Florinda Cafe @ Shun Tak Center, Macau style cuisine: The place was packed with people and lots more waiting for a table: Some of the specialties of the restaurant: Milk...

HK - Macau Ferry Terminal: Maxim's

 By: DRMW : December 19th, 2014-11:14
Maxim's is a popular restaurant group with various branches throughout Hong Kong. This one was a fast serve version. One thing you notice is the roast duck, BBQ pork, and chicken: You pick from a preset menu and pay. Then you take a ticket to the counter ...

What do you think of that Grand Lisboa? Pretty interesting building. -MW

Actually

 By: BentN : December 20th, 2014-16:06
I thought the building looked quite scary :-) Much, much taller than I have imagined and with "horns" - like the Devil himself, haha. But we newer entered it anyway, simply no time. Macau itself was an interesting experience - quite crowded at times can I...

that's a lot of people!

We went at the end of February so it was not as crowded as when you went. IMO the food was really good there, did you enjoy the restaurants in Macau? -MW

Let me share more on behalf of Bent.

Bent and his wife came to Thailand and together we all went to Hong Kong for a few days before they returned home. Our Macau visit was a day trip from Hong Kong (on exactly New Year Day!) so we had maybe only 10 hours there. We had mostly street food beca...

It was pure luck to get that image, but two things stood out very clearly - the girl - and the guy in front of me carefully protecting his left hand valuables from the crowd, haha Cheers, Bent

Cool photo of the Grand Lisboa

Macau trip

 By: ED209 : December 20th, 2014-16:53
Looks like you had fun visiting Macau. I still think it doesn't come close to being Vegas because the casinos are spread out. Plus it's a different feel. Vegas is about entertainment, nightlife and gambling, IMO Macau is purely gambling. I wonder what wil...

Not sure how it will affect them but it was quite busy when we where there. What I did noticethat was different between Vegas and Macau were the atmosphere. People in Vegas seemed to enjoy themselves more when gambling than those in Macau who looked like ...

I was in Macau about 17 years ago.

This was before the Hotel / Casino boom. I kind of liked the way it was, the Hotel Lisbo was great and the food was amazing. I still want to go back and see all the changes. At lease the cannon is still there. Best, JerryW

Really different.

Great lighting. It is a shame they made it look so much like Vegas. I still want to visit again. JerryW
