Iceland Trip

Many adjectives come to mind when trying to describe this lonely island. At times it’s menacing and austere, others it’s majestic and thrilling while sometimes even strange and mysterious.

Whatever adjective you use to qualify it I strongly encourage every single person on this planet to go. Two reasons why:

        1. Practicality: Most cool things are grouped together on the southern part of the island and are close to the airport.

        2. Exploration: You will see landscapes radically different to the ones you’re used to. (You actually feel like your on Middle Earth...in other words, yes, it looks like New Zealand)

The itinerary:

BLUE LAGOON CLINIC

A great way to unwind at the start of a holiday. You bathe in geothermal seawater and purify your skin with natural clay...after an hour not only do you feel like a wrinkly marinated plum but you are also ready for the best nap of your life.

FINGVELLIR

Maybe an hour drive from the Blue Lagoon. Splendours await:

        - Gullfoss waterfall: multi step waterfall. First and second drops are 11m and 21m and then the water plunges into a 32m deep crevice.

        - Geyser: erupts 15m to 25m into the heavens every 8 minutes...sometimes more when it's feeling capricious.

      - Rift valley: where the icelandic general assembly (called Alpingi) was held every summer from 930 to 1728. It was held there for practical reasons (water supply, good roads, brothels etc...i'm joking about the brothels...)

       - Some big crater I forgot the name of...icelanders don't make it easy wink

 - Northen lights: Saw them but was impossible to take a satisfying picture...They are a lot less colourful in real life...!

VIK

It's situated by the sea about another hour drive from Fingvellir. More amazing sights await:

- Skogafoss: 60m drop.

     - Dyrhólaey Lighthouse

Eyjafjallajokull glacier hike: the 6th biggest in iceland

      REYKJAVIK

Didn't do much visiting since I injured my foot the previous day. I would have loved to experience the legendary night-life and to meet pretty icelandic babes wink

This is me falling and tearing my ligaments...

-

Finally, i'd like to leave you with a picture of these very furry and friendly ponies that can be found all across the island.

Well, what are you waiting for?

There is potential for amazing watch pictures...!

Never understood why they called Iceland and Greenland their respective names

Great pics Iceland is green and Greenland WHITE! ( pic from my visit to Greenland) Amazing pics and looks really an interesting place to visit ...

I think it's because...

 By: Epilogue : March 10th, 2014-05:24
...they wanted to keep iceland a secret by making it sound horrible and divert incoming foreign population to Greenland...which, contrary to its name, is even more inhospitable! LOL

Thank you for these amazing sights.

I am always curious about the scenes far, far away from my home country. And I won't ever get to see them if I continue to buy watches like this! So thank you for sharing these with me and everyone. Ruckdee

Indeed, Iceland is surprisingly expensive.
