Finally: new computer, new Windows - I'm lost!!!

Last week, just in time before the Easter holidays, my home computer ceased to work. Weirdly, my office computer, too, became defect a week before. Now all I had to go online was my wife's netbook, but I did not have photoediting software, or my normal office suite for writing. Since I had intended to buy a new computer this year anyway, I ordered one, which was especially tuned for RAW files editing and some video cutting: SSD for operating system and Lightroom catalogues, 2TB HD, and so on. To be on the current side from the beginning, I installed Win 8.1, which is where I made a mistake, I believe. Everything is so different, I don't recognize anything. My big HD is not listed in the system menus, I have no idea why (it is listed in the hardware manager, though), and I will now have to setup my e-mail and web all new .... Oh man, I hate it, hate it, hate it!!!
