"TimeOut forum World Cup 2014 Contest! PART1"

May 22, 2014,00:33 AM

Dear forumners (to paraphrase our MTF)

Less than month is to that special time of year

Time when no men gives 100% at work

Time when ladies can do whatever they wanna  smile

Time when children can do lot more mischiefs

Time when beer sale is through the roof

Time of ecstasy and sorrow

Time when we are glued to TV

The Time of World Cup

This year as you all know World Cup will be hosted in Brazil (last time they were hosts was in 1950 and I think there are still some traumas since then in Brazil smile )

Regardless all troubles in arranging it and potential dangerous situations during the Cup I'm positive that this will be another festival of football

Yes my dear North American friends football smile not soccer we are playing only with feet smile

(ok ok I know head as well and sometimes even hands were used to score)

Anyhow I'm one of those suckers for World Cup

Why? Well there isn’t some logical reason behind it but when you think that you have to wait 4 long years between competitions… that your national team is giving best in world’s most popular sport…. when there is that sweet smell of euphoria all around you after winning…when for short worries don’t seem so big

In one word panem et circenses smile what more to ask smile

Lot of fond memories from childhood connected to these events

First one I remember watching was in Spain in 1982 winner was Italy…then Mexico and Maradona’s Mano de Dios then Croatia’s third place in France……just few big memories

Since 1982 my brother and I have ritual of watching together every game of every Cup

We'll spend lot of time together in June & July this year (sorry my dear wife)

Good thing is also that games start at 20.00, 22.00 and 00.00 my local time so kids will be in bed beer in hand (who am I kidding I don’t drink anything under 40%) eyes on screen in local pub with friends and my bro…ahhhh life has it’s little bonuses smile

To cut the long story short this year in agreement and with courtesy of our dear TO Moderator we'll have dedicated World Cup contests

Contests will start every Friday morning my local time for next three weeks

I'll be your host and judge and our Moderator will supervise my job and provide most important thing....prizes for winners smile

This first contest theme is:

Sports memorabilia

Please share with us your dearest Sports Memorabilia (bonus if it's futbol related!) and story behind it

Winner of contest will be announced next Thursday morning my local time

Looking forward your memorabilia and stories

Sincerely yours

Ming & Damjan

Cool theme for this post. My dearest sports memorabilia is this souvenir from a trip to the spectacular tennis courts at Wimbledon. I love playing tennis and it was great to see a match at center court when I visited a few years ago. Regards, ED-209 ...

I always wanted to go there...

We've seen to much of murky decisions on World Cup lately in qualifying and competition matches likewise What I fear most is opening game of World Cup :) :) and referees bias towards home team :) Will they use hawk Eye system to monitor ball pass the goal...

We are on the same page, Damjan…

 By: AlexSunrise : May 24th, 2014-08:26
I too fear that all decisions will favor the home team, thus making the tournament very boring :-(((. (With respect to our fellow members from Brazil). Let´s hope we are wrong. Best, Alex Ps. Don´t worry too much about the opening game, worry about the 4t...

Sounds like you watched some exciting match ups! It's amazing to watch the players in person, they hit a lot harder than the perspective you see on tv. Plus the amount of spin they can put on the ball is pretty amazing. -MW
