A week end in Bourgogne. Part One: Gilly.

Jul 22, 2014,06:42 AM

My wife has a lot of talents to find THE place to go for a relaxing week end.

Always.

Here, we went to Gilly, in a somptuous Castle from the 12th Century, which has been converted into an hotel.

Bourgogne is a charming part of France, with some well known towns such as Auxerre, Beaune or Dijon. Gilly is a bit far from Paris ( 330 Kilometers ) for a short week end, but it is Worth the effort.

To make it even more charming, we decided to take the Volvo P 1800.

I will post more pics of the car in the automotive forum, soon.

Back to Gilly and its castle, here are the pictures.

The wines are excellent, as well as cheese. As you can guess, it was a week end of greediness.

In Part II, I will post some pictures of Chateau Pommard, which is a prestigious wine.

Stay tuned!

Nicolas

Your P1800!! I'm quite a Volvo enthusiast. Although I don't know everything about Volvo, but I do know what I like. I've lived most of my life in Singapore, and I only saw the P1800 once ever in the wild. It was ahead of me at a stop light, and I was too ...

You are a girl with great taste, DM.

The C 30 is a charming coupé. And yes, a reminiscence of the P 1800 ES, the Shooting Break version of the P 1800 S or E. You drive different, when you are in a Volvo. The C 30 has something more, which is Fun. Bravo, DM. Best, Nicolas

We have an automotive forum too if you want to post more car pictures! I have been noticing a few P1800s this summer in California. I've seen four in the past few weeks. I can imagine they're rare sights in Singapore.

Putting some miles is a funny game. In 22 months, I already drove...

this place well, having stayed there in the 90s.,during a visit to the surrounding vineyards The rooms were very spacious, even those on the ground level--almost mini-suites,and they had a fine restaurant in the basement! Would love to visit the area again...

The restaurant is excellent, indeed. And the place, charming.
