A pictorial visit of Venezia.

Aug 21, 2014,00:49 AM

This is not the first time we visit Venezia, as Trieste is not far from the " Serenisima " ( only 150 Kilometers ), but each time we go there, it is like the first time.

Every corner of the town, every bridge, every canale ( and God knows there are many, there! ) is a pure rapture.

The play of light, the colors of the houses, the small and narrow streets, the labyrinth of water, the majestuous monuments are all contributing to your aesthetical pleasure.

Aesthetical, and historical pleasures, I should say.

Indeed, there is an interaction between the visitor and the town, a strong link which is built between the two. This town is a travel into time, each piece, each street of Venezia tells a story, you feel it, you can imagine how life was some centuries ago, this is really difficult to put in words, you just have to live it.

In fact, there are two ways to visit Venezia.

- The " Touristic " way, which leads you to go to the gigantic Piazza San Marco, which is, for Watch Nuts a must see, specially if you are an Ulysse Nardin Fan. The Torre Dell Orologio ( Clock Tower ) is really something, as well as the Rialto, and the Biennale ( which hosts Artistic events ).

We ended our visit with these parts of the town.

A view on the Piazza San Marco ( left side ) featuring, on the background, the Clock Tower:

And the right part of the Place:

The view from the Rialto, which looks like a painting, don't you think?

And from the Biennale Café, which is also somptuous!

The daughter started to get tired, but offer her a good drink and a Venetian Mask, and she is invigorated!

- The " I loose myself " in the town in certainly a very interesting method to visit a place. It is my favourite way, to say all, because you avoid the crowd, and you are surprised at each street corner.

There are so many intriging and marvellous things to see!

Don't you want to spend some time in this restaurant?

What about this café?

What about a rest in this secret garden?

The Pisa Tower is not the only one to incline...

One of oldest, if not the oldest clock of the town:

What about this surrealistic shot?

How do you like the place, with or without ship?

Are there people walking in these narrow Streets, sometimes?

There are two Symbols which come to mind, when we imagine Venezia: Gondolas and Canals. There are plenty of both, in reality, so this is not only a fantaisy.

I will end by these two symbols, but to be clear, Venezia is much more than that, it is an ambiance to be lived, to be fully appreciated and understood.

A gondola maker!

The diversity of Canals is just impressive:

I hope you liked the pictorial tour!

Best,

Nicolas

Amazing that they the ship can pass over there, very cool shot! I've never been there but it seems like a great place to visit. I like how the water comes right up to the end of the street, hope the tide doesn't rise too much! -MW

The tide literally threatens the town some times per year.

The Piazza San Marco is Under water, for example. Yes, ing, this is a town to visit, absolutely. With your better half, even better! Best, Nicolas

Certainly gives a sense of everyday life rather than the crazy tourist bustle that is Venice in the summer. Some very nice photos (shot with your new D-LUX 6?) Thanks for taking us to a magical place, Nicolas!

Thanks for looking, John, and...

Teaching Boris some moves :) Can't believe 1. That it has been 7 years since then 2. That me and blomman were there same time not knowing each other then 3. How many different facets Venezia have... some examples to add to your splendid pictorial Sincerel...

I might have also been there in 2007!

 By: amanico : August 21st, 2014-12:39
As quite each summer, I go there for one day or two... We should have gathered there, with Mr Silver. ;) Cool, very cool pictures, too, Damjan. Best, Nicolas, back to Croatia tomorrow ( Rovinjo ).

As I always knew....

Venezia.. One of my absolute love Cities.. Unique, in multiple ways.. :))

 By: hs111 : August 21st, 2014-22:12
.. I can totally relate to this pictorial, as I have visited there, many times, trying to absorb the flavors of this pearl, enjoying every time like 'de novo', La Serenissima.. Your pics of San Marco, the Campanile, the view on to S. Giorgio Maggiore trig...

You got it all, my dear HS.

 By: amanico : August 21st, 2014-23:01
You " felt " Venezia... It is obvious, by the way you describe it. The Café Florian was too crowdy, this time, we much preferred to have a drink at the Biennale Caffé. We had all the Terrasse for us! All the best, my friend. Nicolas

You made such an exacting description of this so magical place!...

 By: Subexplorer : August 23rd, 2014-08:08
... and added those marvelous photographs dear Nicolas. Yes, some views look like old paintings. The quality of light and colors of Venezia are so unique! There is magic, intrigue, mistery, history, and charm among many words we can use to discribe Venezi...

Yes, you can't get all the beauty of Venezia in only one visit.

 By: amanico : August 23rd, 2014-08:14
That must take much more times! Maybe it would be interesting to discover this city during a different season? All the best, Amigo mio, Nicolas

Have to visit! Great photos! [nt]
