What Is It?
Hypothetical story: I took a photo of this with my cell phone camera. And when reviewing my photos, I can't tell why I took this picture. Can anyone tell me what it is? It's rather difficult. All I can say is that it was a little dusty in there....

OP also asked why he took a pic of it. I think he took it because they face each other, most face away or are straight up but there are those that cross or face each other. Just a guess. If anyone would know it'll be you BDLJ. -MW

...that the trumpets are are tuned to a certain length, then curved to fit under the bonnet. So the answer is probably just packaging?
Wait, maybe it's the V10 M5...
They have similar looking intake trumpets. But no. it's the V8 M3.
