... even when we just look on racing bikes.
In the past I used to ride frequently by bicycle and always liked it a lot – racing bikes, mainly. Over the years a lot of things, especially when we look on new technologies, changed here. About three or four years ago I bought myself a mountain bike. It was not the most special one, but also it was not a bargain. It is a good bike and rides well, but I miss something. There is no relationship between me and the bike. Just can´t imagine using it as a “sports tool” frequently.
A new bike is high on my list, but it has to be something special. The later doesn´t mean it has to be the most expensive one, or the “latest & hottest dog in town” … still it should be beautifully designed to my eyes, reasonably lightweight, durable and comfortable (even on cobblestone pavement). Something sporty yet “classic” - much like race bikes, but without sacrificing comfort or durability. Same as with watches it is all about the details and that´s why I decided to ask you for support. I tried to do my research and I am still doing it, but I have no personal experience with most of the products – frames, wheels, groups and so on. Steel, titanium, carbon, manual or electric gear, “normal” or disc brakes … is it just a matter of taste and money? I found/got lots of pros and cons (internet/shop´s), but only from people I don´t know – good or bad.
Some of the things I saw I like a lot for several reasons. First of all bikes from Pasculli, Storck, Passoni, Festka, Jaegher … and all of them have pros and cons. When we talk about groups Shimano and Campagnolo came to my mind and my current favorite is the Campa Chorus 2015. Parts from fizik, Selle Italia, Citec … clothes from Rapha … shoes from SIDI … helmet from Giro … .
Step by step I build up my mind, but still not ready for purchasing. The budget I have in mind for the bike is about € 5.000.- (bike only, plus equipment), which is not that much to get something really nice - still it should be possible.
Will I do races? I don´t think so. Frequently riding (10 up to 100km) in the area and maybe some sporty tours/holidays is what I have in mind. At the moment it is just me, but some “brands” have a community in my area and maybe they are nice people …
Some pictures may help you to understand what I am looking for or at least what I like - hopefully
What I really want is to do more sports, to have fun and to please my eyes & hands. Does this make any sense to you? If yes, please support me if you have good or bad experiences on the topic. Thanks!
