PICS: 'Blood Moon' aka Lunar Eclipse April 2015

Apr 07, 2015,00:01 AM

I took some shots of the Blood Moon back in October 2014 (  http://timeout.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-686/pi-6623748/ti-954573/s-0/t-timeout-blood-moon-oct-2014-215am-pst/  wink and we just had another one over the weekend.  This particular one was the shortest as it lasted about 10-15 minutes or so.

It was a bright full moon on a late Friday night, the skies were clear so it was a great opportunity to take a shot:

Then things got interesting on Saturday at around 3:30am:

By 4am you could really see the eclipse occurring:

The Blood Moon is approaching!

Different settings to view the eclipse as it happened:

Since I was traveling, I didn't have my trusty Gitzo tripod.  Thought the pics came out ok:

The cool part was when the reddish colors come out!

This Lunar Eclispe was not as intense as the one back in October but was still cool to see.

At around 5:15am PST things started to return back to normal.  In our part of the world we were fortunate to be able to clearly see the eclipse occur.  It was tough staying up at 3:30am to take pics but IMo it was totally worth it!  Hope you all enjoyed the moon pics!

Did anyone else capture the event?  Did you get a glimpse of the Blood Moon?
