2015 BMW i8, front three-quarter view

Posted Dec 10th 2014 11:00AM

Some 223 examples of the 2014 BMW i8, built between May 16, 2014 and September 16, 2014, are being recalled over a potential fuel leak. A bolt used to secure a ground cable from the chassis structure to the fuel tank could have been welded improperly; if so, gas might leak from the tank.

The recall began in November, so if any of you owner types aren't aware by now, you can take your i8 to the dealer for replacement of the fuel tank if necessary. A bulletin from the National Highway Transportation Administration below has more details.

.. but saw one in the wild last week. It looks absolutely awesome. Low, aggressive and fluent. The way the rear lights are integrated in the 'spoiler' is captivating in reality. It is definitally a head turner.

An extraordinary car. If only it were attainable... The waiting lists are 10+ months long in California.

I remember having " caught " one of the first Audi TT delivered in France, in 1999... I had several problems with it. Always solved, of course, but a bit irritating. Now, I always wait before jumping on a new car. ;) Best, Nicolas

Yeah, a lot of problems with that N54 I6 Twin Turbo engine. But wow, 1 month, that's really disappointing to hear. I have a similar car, but with the N62 engine (4.4 liter V8), and it's a great engine except it leaks oil. Do you work in high tech? Seattle...

I made comments about the BMW series being too similar and recent Roundel magazine published a comment by BMW that they will try to make each series more distinctive....somehow voices are heard. Till then, I will stay away from BMW, like you said....just ...

I don't need exclusivity...

Ahh, Portland. I've never been there. I'm from the San Francisco/Silicon Valley area. I find that I don't need exclusivity in my cars. To attract attention with the car for me is not a good thing since I often park the car in San Francisco (a city notorio...

Premiums are slowly going down

 By: AnthonyTsai : January 24th, 2015-13:42
One dealership used to have it at $100k premium. Now it's $40k premium. Hopefully in a year there will be no more premium. - AT
