HTC EVO 3D: Part2

Aug 24, 2011,00:41 AM

To address concerns with the raised cameras being scratched, especially while laying the phone on a flat surface, I installed a matte black TPU-Cases protective case.  It's thin yet fits the phone perfectly and has plenty of protection for the cameras.  The power, volume, and ports are easy accessible with this case.

cutout for the 2D-3D selector switch

You can see how the cameras are now recessed into the TPU-Cases case and protected from scratches.  The case also allows enough clearance for the speaker to function normally.

Here's the 1730MAh Lithium Ion battery, run time has been very good so far.  I've installed a Battery Monitor Widget to track usage, with moderate internet, calls, and text I get around 12+ hours on a single charge.  Aftermarket companies have extended batteries that are 4300MAh for the power user but they are very bulky.  With extended use, the phone does heat up but a built in program (which can be modified) prevents the phone from overheating and shuts it down.

The red and white sticker is the moisture indicator, it it goes pink color, than it has been exposed to water and will void the warranty.

Included with the HTC EVO 3D is a 8GB class 4 MicroSD memory card (OEM is Kingston or SanDisk, mine came with the Kingston shown below)

Since we can play movies, take pics and videos, 8GB is not going to cut it so let's bump up it up a notch.  To access the MicroSD card, the back cover and battery needs to be removed.

The fastest and currently the highest capacity MicroSD from SanDisk, a 32GB class4 card.  I've always had a positive experience with SanDisk and use them in all my cellphones and cameras. I always recommend getting good memory cards as you don't want to lose data.

Hmmmm, Water Proof, Shock Proof, Temperature Proof, and X-Ray Proof...........hopefully I never have to test this aspect out with my cellphone!

It's always a good idea to put a screen protector to prevent scratches. I've had good luck with Boxwave clear and anti-glare protectors but they didn't have one for the Evo 3D so a friend recommended the ones from FLSuperstore. These dry application scree...

"you modded it yet?" Heck yeah I did! Been trying different ROMs and flashing all kinds of cool stuff, the beauty of open source!!!!! When I first got the phone, I was worried as the initial reviews were stating that the 3D was kinda gimmicky. After spend...

I don't text, I don't email, I don't do anything but talk into my phone. Really need to get a smart phone or at least accept text messages. And sometimes my phone does not work when I'm traveling overseas. I just have so many problems with the phone.

Yeah..

it's convenient to have mobile internet access. What are you using now? They do have SIM unlocked and World phones (CMDA and GSM in one) depending on carrier. -MW

Am considering upgrading

It is indeed convenient to have mobile internet access, but I hardly ever use it. I am currently using a Motorola V8 2GB RAZR phone. Basically, it's the second gen RAZR phone, I've had it for about two and a half years now. Ironically, this is a four band...

The Xperia is available here in the States on Verizon. My friend has it and playing games on with the slider gamepad was cool. Which features of it do you like most on the phone? -MW

While I like the "it just works" nature of the iPhone4, your review caught my interest. But "bricking" and "rooting" got me worried. I can imagine that bricking means the phone becomes a useless rectangular object no better than a brick. But rooting? A

In the pic showing Revolutionary S-Off and having root access, it's the Android equivalent to jailbreaking using Redsn0w beta 6 on the iPhone 4 iOS 5 . Even with the OTA updates, I'm still have superusers access. As with any device, you can brick your pho...

Your new pimped out cellphone

Nice review DRMW and kinda cool that you already pimped out your cellphone with all those accessories. I actually saw one of these HTC Evo 3D phones during dinner tonight and the sample 3D pictures are really impressive. It's very similar to the Nintendo ...

Clarity is awesome. You probably noticed how fluid the UI is going from one app to another and ability to multitask. And yes, the 3D is cool once you know how to properly view it. Reception is like any other provider or phone, it depends on location. Each...
