HTC EVO 3D: Part3

It's always a good idea to put a screen protector to prevent scratches.  I've had good luck with Boxwave clear and anti-glare protectors but they didn't have one for the Evo 3D so a friend recommended the ones from FLSuperstore.  These dry application screens are offered in regular clear and matte (aka anti-glare) but I ordered the clear.  The cut fitted the phone's screen perfectly and looked as though nothing was on it.  As for tactile feel, touch input was smooth.  Cleanup of fingerprints and smudges was easy to wipe off.

Usually putting these things on without any bubbles is a pain, even the tiniest of dust particles that gets trapped on the device or the protector will be annoying to look at.  What I did was install it after a hot shower in the bathroom as the steam will decrease static electricity and most of the dust in the air.

The optional MHL (Mobile High Definition Link) connector allows the Evo 3D to output media to a big screen tv.  MHL is a HDMI connection but has the ability to power similar to how devices can transmit data and power via usb.  I was able to watch regular 2D and 3D movies quickly and effortless as the cell auto detects a connection and will even go from portrait to landscape mode.

When you get a new phone, you got to get the accessories that go with it.  One of the coolest items available for the HTC EVO 3D is the Vehicle Car Dock.

Made by accessory maker iGrip, the Car Dock  kit includes a docking station, suction cup mount with the optional adhesive for a more permanent solution.

The Car Dock uses the AMPs type of mount so you can change out the dock portion to accommodate other devices.  Included in the kit is also a hanger to route the charging cable for a cleaner install.

The hanger can be fitted above or below the pivoting section depending how you mount the device.

Although the entire Car Dock is made up of plastic, it's very sturdy.

The suction cup has a release lever that increases the adhesiveness so you can mount securely on a window or a flat portion of the dash.

Here's the docking portion of the mount, it's molded to fit a EVO 3D perfectly.

The top portion has a soft rubber pad, this prevents scratches when you lower the top to secure the phone in the dock

A close up of the pad

It's common for cellphones to have a protective case so this Car Dock has a clever design......

There's a removable insert inside the Car Dock to accommodate the wider dimensions of the EVO 3D fitted with a protective case.

On the posterior aspect of the Car Dock, the lower side has the Micro USB power connection that can route out to the vehicle's cigarette lighter adapter.

There are also other options to the suction cup mount.  iGrip offers vehicle vent and bean bag style mounts.  Here's the optional 'Venter' vent mount with the adjustable base.

The two clips attache to the slots of the vehicle air conditioning vents and to the mount.  Since the 'Venter' has the AMPs style design, you can easily change out the dock for other devices.

To address concerns with the raised cameras being scratched, especially while laying the phone on a flat surface, I installed a matte black TPU-Cases protective case. It's thin yet fits the phone perfectly and has plenty of protection for the cameras. The...

I don't text, I don't email, I don't do anything but talk into my phone. Really need to get a smart phone or at least accept text messages. And sometimes my phone does not work when I'm traveling overseas. I just have so many problems with the phone.

Yeah..

it's convenient to have mobile internet access. What are you using now? They do have SIM unlocked and World phones (CMDA and GSM in one) depending on carrier. -MW

Am considering upgrading

It is indeed convenient to have mobile internet access, but I hardly ever use it. I am currently using a Motorola V8 2GB RAZR phone. Basically, it's the second gen RAZR phone, I've had it for about two and a half years now. Ironically, this is a four band...

The Xperia is available here in the States on Verizon. My friend has it and playing games on with the slider gamepad was cool. Which features of it do you like most on the phone? -MW

While I like the "it just works" nature of the iPhone4, your review caught my interest. But "bricking" and "rooting" got me worried. I can imagine that bricking means the phone becomes a useless rectangular object no better than a brick. But rooting? A

In the pic showing Revolutionary S-Off and having root access, it's the Android equivalent to jailbreaking using Redsn0w beta 6 on the iPhone 4 iOS 5 . Even with the OTA updates, I'm still have superusers access. As with any device, you can brick your pho...

Your new pimped out cellphone

Clarity is awesome. You probably noticed how fluid the UI is going from one app to another and ability to multitask. And yes, the 3D is cool once you know how to properly view it. Reception is like any other provider or phone, it depends on location. Each...
