A blast from the past...and a bit of local history

Had lunch with a couple of PuristS and I was really surprised that they had a gift for me.  They got something that they knew was very cool to me...looks very old...hmmmm what could this be?

Awesome!!!  It's a old sign from the Orbach's building! Those who have lived in L.A. will remember the clothing store that was inside the now Petersen Automotive museum location.   Orbach's was there from 1965 to 1987.  Growing up we bought clothes there and it was interesting to see all the changes to the area.  Across the street where the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) building was a May Co. department store and Johnie's Coffee Shop is on the north west side of the block.

The chain is rusty but it still strong enough to be used to hang on the wall.  I know the perfect place to put it, it'll look great right next to my display of sports memorabilia

Thanks you so much of thinking of me (you know who you are!), this is such a thoughtful gift!!!

I know someone whose wife worked there many years back in the fashion dept. She was in charge of providing "Laugh-In" with cloting/costumes for their weekly taping of the comedy show. This brings back mucho memories. Thanks for sharing
