I also changed both office and home comp in last couple of months

For home
I got myself 240GB SSD for system and 3 X 2TB for photos of watches
and kids
smile
I also put inside FX9590 AMD proc 220W TDP smile
with 8 cores on 5 GHz unlocked
full overclockable

Paired it with Asus Crosshair V formula-Z MBO
and 16GB of 2400MHz DDR3 RAM all inside
excellent Zalman MS 800 case

Cherry on cake was best cooler I ever saw in my whole life
and best non water cooler out there it is Made in Austria wink
the mighty Noctua NH-U14S

and then....I made BIG mistake I installed Windows 8.1
to cut the long storry short after 5 days of total annoyment
I installed Win7 x64 and am happy puppy since

I think that you should do the same
Win 8 are not for us
wink
Best
D
P.S. Luckily I did this experiment before setting up little bit less powerful office comp

Finally: new computer, new Windows - I'm lost!!!

 By: Marcus Hanke : April 24th, 2014-09:57
Last week, just in time before the Easter holidays, my home computer ceased to work. Weirdly, my office computer, too, became defect a week before. Now all I had to go online was my wife's netbook, but I did not have photoediting software, or my normal of...

It took me one full week to set my new computer, and to go for 8.1... You will get used to it, but it will take some time. Courage! Best, Nicolas

... set up again how I like it. Sometimes, I will notice missing fonts or Photoshop actions only months later. I really hate that, just retrieving my old archived e-mail traffic is a pain. Marcus

I try to master the minimum, the base, then I slowly add the next step.

At first, I could not locate the 2 TB hard drive. Thanks to some goggled online fora, I found the new storage management command (cool!) and could format it. Now, however, the front USB 3.0 interfaces do not recognize my external hard drive, which is very...

... I have the impression that there are still some drivers missing, also for the SSD. Access appears a bit slow for my taste. Marcus

Doh!! I find Windows 8 to be totally different from Windows 7 too

At least they incorporated the Desktop view, so you can go back to the old layout. It'll take some time to get used to Windows 8. I'm fortunate not to have to make the permanent switch over yet! Cheers, Anthony

I have still problems with uncomplete downloads every now and then, USB 3 interfaces not recognizing my external HD, but more or less, I have now the capability to write and to edit my pictures. This was really necessary, I am far behind my schedule of Ba...
