SWEET!!!
Nov 06, 2014,00:15 AM
Hello all!
I'll admit it...I have a sweet tooth and crave sugary treats like you wouldn't believe. So when we went to the Hollywood & Highland complex to watch a movie, I try to stop by a place called SWEET Hollywood Candy Store. The place is huge (30,000 square foot store) and their layout consists of 12 different themed areas. As you could imagine they have all kinds of tasty confections, from the newest candies to many of the treats that we grew up with. There's a giant 700 foot track that has gumballs rolling around it. Another area has a section dedicated to Willy Wonka treats. Stay Puft (from the Ghost Busters movie) has a wall full of marshmallow treats and assorted licorice from Rick O'Lish. There's even a Hello Kitty section!
Yes, you do feel like a kid in a candy store!
One of the interesting parts is towards the back part of the store, you can customize your very own chocolate bar! (note the doggie on the top left hand side...it's a Chocolate Lab...hehehehe!)
Delicious handmade and made to order chocolate bars, lots of different flavors and things you can add to it:
Throughout the candy shop they have some fun things to look at and being Hollywood we see some famous faces. One of the bigger pieces was this:
Look closely at Eminem's portrait...
Yep, Eminem is made up of M&M's!
They had Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, and a bunch of other stars on the walls. Pretty creative! I've been to the M&M's store on Las Vegas Boulevard and out at the Ethel M factory but seeing the pictures made up of M&m's was cool.
As you wonder around thinking of which candy you'll be getting, some of the traditional candies have a unique twist to it...like this one:
I like candy and sure as heck enjoy bacon but not sure how this combo would work. I dared my friend to try it but she wasn't brave enough LOL!
Next up was the most oddest theme of the store...
Nope you did not end up accidentally in the restroom...it really is a bunch of toilets in this section. They even had urinals =O On top of the toilets they sold these 'Survival Kits'. Get your a$$ gasket s here!
Ewwwww...someone left a surprise inside the toilet. Good thing it was fake poop! Surprise it was plastic and not chocolate.
On the side were dispensers, the good 'ol sugary Pixy Stix type candy!
But these are not your ordinary Pixy Stix that you enjoyed as a kid, these are giant 12" and 34" ones that you can fill up at the urinals.
Lots of different and unique flavors...yes that's what I need...more sugar!
So after filling up a bag of candies I spotted this at the counter:
I haven't had Bazooka bubble gum in a long long time. Remember this stuff? Gum that had flavor that lasted a few minutes and you ate it just for the comics and to collect point to redeem some cheesy toy. To my surprise they don't have comics with the wrappers anymore, just some lame jokes or dumb facts.
The gum was ok and brought back childhood memories but I was kinda disappointed in not getting to read the goofy comics.
If you ever get a chance to visit Hollywood check out SWEET, it'll bring the kid out in you. Lots of great stuff in there and has a much larger selection than the trendy Dylan's.
