Swiss 'contract children'

It’s a BBC article, but I came across the subject through CNN earlier today.

www.bbc.co.uk

I was touched by the story not just by the fact that I understood things like that happened in the Gulag (as I knew but learned much better through Anne Applebaum’s great book), but not in the middle of Europe.

I love children and could not be crazier about my four-year-old boy, the age of Peter Weber when he was sent to a farm to work as cheap labor. In my opinion, there is no worse crime than shattering the innocence of a small child. It is amazing to think that authorities from a country like Switzerland were capable of such a monstrosity only 60 years ago.

It sucks that they would take advantage of them. But with these type of articles it makes people aware of wrong doings in the past. As they say: Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it'. -MW
