The Hateful Eight

Synopsis:
In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

Overboard has to be Kirt Russell's best movie, hands down. He plays the justified villain in this one. Helen

When I first looked at the picture you posted, I wondered whether it was Jeff Bridges or Kurt Russell. Adore them both and would probably pay good money to simply watch of movie comprised of them sitting in a room across from one another glowering and dis...

Star Wars was a no-brainer enjoyable film for me, but this one was slightly less clear cut. It was good, and I'm glad I watched it, but I guess at times it felt a little affected with Tarantino laddling on the kitsch a little heavyhandedly. Still, it is s...

I thought Kurt Russell's performance was very good but the movie itself was just ok. Have you seen Sicario? I thought that was pretty good. -MW

And have mixed feelings, too. The acting was generally good as was the basic idea. It took its sweet time to get going, though and somehow if you have seen any previous Tarantino movies, how it ends is no surprise. So OK rather than great, even if it has ...
