"Yes, I’ve heard you say all Japanese restaurants are essentially the same. They all serve raw fish with rice . Possibly some cooked pieces of beef or salmon and miso soup is always on the menu. The sake is essentially all much the same and although the quality of the food varies enormously , you know what you are going to eat. " is at best ignorant.

Obviously not all Japanese restaurants serve raw fish. sake has as much variety as single malts, some would say nuanced differences as profound as encountered with wine.

That out of the way, thanks for the pictures and commentary. Both places you tried look worth visiting.

I'm not a fan of uni or amaebi but when it's good I'll eat it. How were the scallops at Sushi Nakazawa? I like those plates that O Ya used for their dishes, glad to hear that the staff knew the menu! -MW

cannot specifically remember the scallops

But the fish was all exceptionally fresh and well prepared The presentation at O ya was exceptional ( incl the crockery) Interestingly the decor at Sushi nakazawa was much more formal Julian

Both dining experiences look great. Did you like the Boston place better than N Naka in LA? Regards, ED-209
