DRMW,

I do not want to "hijack" your great thread and non of my images from our trip are as tasty as yours, but anyway,
our journey was kind of in the same neighborhood I believe, so here are a few images smile

After picking up a (too) big rental car at LA Airport (I believe we got an upgrade to an Infinity QX56), we drove until the late evening along the costal road nbr 1. Nice car, but big/wide to drive into the streets of SF for the first time at night smile

We ended up late evening at his place (photo taken the next morning):

The plan was to split the LA-SF journey into two days. Apart from this route we had an exceptional trip out to Hawaii too, but thats kind of a separate trip.

It seems there was not too many hotels to choose from in this area, so we prebooked.
After we arrived we were a bit tired and very hungry.
So, I remember, our dining that night was an in-room dining service  smile

And in the morning - a very traditional breakfast. Tasty it was.

From there, we kept on driving to SF.

But I already understand we still have a lot to see and experience even on the very same route.
I.e. we stopped only shortly in Carmel - and even the same day we left for SF, i felt we should have stayed longer there. Sooo nice area.
Next time smile

Best
Bent

In the Montecito/Santa Barbara area is a well known hotel, the Four Seasons Biltmore. Opened in 1927, it's a popular destination. The 22 acre property is beautiful with Butterfly Beach across the way...what a gorgeous day! One of the reasons for our visit...

Santa Claus Lane (yep you read that right, there's a exit off the 101 freeway called Santa Claus Lane!!!) in Carpenteria is our next destination... This place is packed with beach goers... In this area adjacent to the beach are a set of stores, businesses...

Sooo many great and tasty images. The Burgers look amazing. I now understand that we drove right past their doorstep late last year on the way from LA to SF, and if I knew then - we would surely have stopped by. Well...next time :-) Thanks Bent

So many places to visit in SB. We did the brunch at the Four Seasons with a group of PuristS several months ago and it was very nice. Need to go back to SB to visit the other places you mentioned. Regards, ED-209

Padaro Beach Grill is right off the 101 so when you do your drive up you can time it so you can do lunch there. Enjoy! -MW
